Alta Dog Rehabilitation Clinic is a sponsor for the Companion Golden Retriever Rescue (CGRR), specifically raising money for their medical fund. Having adopted her two Golden Retrievers from them, the late Alta Dog Mascot Sophie Lynn and the late Ruby Slippers , the rescue holds a special place in Tena’s heart. Alta Dog hosts multiple events each year. 100% of proceeds from each event go to helping rescue groups around the Salt Lake Valley.

The Annual Holiday Dog Wash is one of Alta Dogs biggest events for the rescue. The wash is held on the second Sunday of December at Dirty Johnson’s Dog Wash who kindly donates their facility. Alta Dog staff and volunteers wash dogs while owners enjoy snacks and a silent auction. Doggie & Me Massage Night is held at Alta Dog Rehab and is an event dedicated to relaxation for humans and canines alike. Dogs and their owners enjoy massages side by side provided by either licensed massage or physical therapists. There is also a silent auction that guests can enjoy while waiting for their appointment time to begin.

Alta Dog has held multiple fundraisers in the past including self-defense courses taught by Linda and Mark Puthuff where proceeds were donated to the Utah Search and Rescue Dogs, a yoga class where proceeds went to the Arctic Rescue, and a holiday shopping night for the Rocky Mountain Great Dane Rescue. Alta Dog has also volunteered to train the members of Intermountain Therapy animals and owners of Working Dogs for the Blind in a hands on community education workshop on various techniques to massage and comfort their service dogs.

Alta Dog is passionate about supporting local canine rescue groups and our working dogs, and do whatever they can to support them! This often includes donating canine massages and baskets to fundraisers going on throughout our community, and providing 10% off rehab therapy treatments to dogs in rescues and working dogs of the Wasatch Mountains who work so hard to keep us all safe.

Finally, Tena and her husband Scott, created the annual Ruby Slippers Wigglebutt Candlelight Memorial Walk to honor all those beautiful souls that received their angel wings and made their way to heaven. This walk takes place on January 2, the birthdate of Ms. Ruby Slippers, Tena’s beautiful Golden retriever adopted as a puppy from the CGRR who had the happiest wigglebutt and bubbly personality that never stopped. She unfortunately was diagnosed with cancer at 6 years old and died just 10 days later. This event is held outside at one of Ruby’s favorite parks where we walk around the park, enjoy snacks and drinks, and beautiful songs and poetry from amazing volunteers and friends of Alta Dog.

More information on all our events are posted on our social media accounts closer to the event dates!

It is through our wonderful clients and friends of Alta Dog and the amazing rescues we have here in Utah that we are able to make these events so successful. We all work together, whether a volunteer at an event, making a basket to donate for a silent auction, or a patron at the event we would not be able to do it without you!
