Lacey

Lacey grew up on a farm in Indiana where she helped raise multiple dogs, a couple of pigs, and about a dozen cows. After graduating from college in 2006 with an associates degree in Graphic Design, she moved to Alta, Utah and spent her time working and snowboarding at Snowbird Ski Resort. While living in the canyon she had the pleasure of volunteering with the Wasatch Backcountry Rescue (WBR) as a practice “victim” for the avalanche rescue dogs, to help them learn new skills or to tune up the ones they already had. For many years, Lacey has filled her need for canine love through dog sitting.

In 2016 she began her involvement with the Rocky Mountain Great Dane Rescue (RMGDR). Through this she adopted a 6 year old Great Dane named Shera. That same week her and her partner rescued an English Bulldog named Ruby.

Lacey first became familiar with Alta Dog as a client with her dog Shera. Shera had severe lumbar spondylosis. Through these weekly appointments a friendship grew, not only with the people of Alta Dog but also with the dogs. During the summer of 2019 Shera fractured her hind leg and was visiting Alta Dog more frequently post surgery. Lacey became more interested in the process and all care that went into rehabbing her own dog that she inquired about volunteering to help with the other dogs that needed rehabilitation.

When Lacey isn’t working her full-time job as a flight attendant or volunteering at Alta Dog, she is taking her Great Dane Finnley on adventures and snuggling with Ruby, the lazy Bulldog on the couch. She also enjoys mountain biking and snowboarding. She is a free spirit who lives by the seat of her pants and strives to make people laugh and put a smile on their faces. She has a personality that cannot be taught and accepts a face lick from all the furbabies.
